The Paris/Henry County Arts Council
celebrates its 40th anniversary this
year. The Arts
Council is a not-for-profit
organization supporting the arts
(literature, performing arts, and
visual arts) in Paris and Henry
County. The Arts Council, governed
by a 21-member working board, is
committed to promote, encourage, and
stimulate appreciation of and
involvement in the arts. They employ
a full-time executive director. The
Arts Council receives funding
through city and county government,
private donations and grants.
Annually, the Arts Council provides
a Community Artist Showcase, Photo
Showcase, Christmas Concert, Arts
‘Round The Square, and All District
Band Festival. Concerts, plays, and
other activities are planned for the
community and surrounding area to
attend.
The Arts Council believes that an
appreciation of the arts begins with
our young people. The council
provides tickets and chartered buses
for all city and county fifth-grade
students to see a professional play
or musical at the Tennessee
Performing Arts Center in Nashville.
Annually, an All District Band
Festival is performed by junior high
students in both school systems.
Other projects include providing
guest artists and storytellers for
the schools, supporting Henry County
High School’s music, drama, and art
departments and Paris Youth
Orchestra.
The Arts Council office, located in
Paris City Hall at 100 N. Caldwell
Street, is open Monday - Friday from
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For further
